For over 30 years, Royal Carpet Cleaning in Santa Barbara has been providing eco-friendly carpet and tile cleaning services. Royal Carpet Cleaning was founded by Jose Munoz Sr., and now Jose Munoz Jr. continues his legacy. We met with Jose Jr. to celebrate the business's new status as an EmployABILITY Champion and to help us learn what that means to them.
When you tell people what your business does, what do you say?
We are an all-in-one property service company. We provide carpet, tile, and upholstery cleaning. We also do mold remediation and reconstruction. We take pride in doing things right the first time. Our products are eco-friendly, so they are safe to use around family and pets.
How did you start your business?
Royal Carpet Cleaning was started by my father, Jose Munoz Sr. I worked for the company until my father passed away from COVID. I’ve tried to be true to his mission and grow the business. COVID was a difficult time for our family and for the business, but I knew that I wanted to keep the business going as a tribute to my father. So, during that time, we offered sanitation services. We pride ourselves on being responsive to the needs of our clients, and that was certainly a time we could respond and keep the business going.
How do you plan to use EmployABILITY Business Grant funds to grow your business?
We are hiring individuals with disabilities. Because we want to offer the best employment experience for all of our employees, we’re also bringing in a consultant who is going to help us with disability inclusion. We’ve also bought a van that will have accessible cleaning equipment. Some of the funds will be used for marketing. All of those things will help us find great new employees and grow our customer base.
What does the future look like for your business?
I think it's a promising time for us at Royal Carpet Cleaning. We know that our move into water damage services represents a new chapter of growth. We will also continue our focus on inclusivity. Our future will be a time of us moving forward, growing our business while also making a positive impact in our community.
What does it mean to you to be an EmployABILITY Champion?
I am enthusiastic about the direction our business is heading. We've built a solid reputation in carpet cleaning, and now we're branching out. It's an opportunity to grow and strengthen our business in a practical and sustainable way.
