The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM/SHRM Foundation) has partnered with the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) through the Demand Side Employment Initiative (DSEI) to adapt its national curriculum, Employing Abilities at Work, and tailor it to California regulations, culture, and resources.
As one of the four key initiatives of DSEI, the SHRM Foundation’s customized curriculum will take attendees through the organizational life cycle of employing individuals with disabilities, establish a foundation for operating with accommodations, and show how HR departments can adapt their hiring practices to be inclusive of people with all abilities. The curriculum will include interactive modules, scenarios, and in-depth information on California’s diverse talent landscape and aims to create large-scale, systemic change for more equitable hiring practices.
Once the curriculum content is complete, the SHRM Foundation and DOR will finalize the instructional curriculum for distribution through online courses as well as classes at community colleges throughout the state — all at no cost for employers and HR professionals.
