EmployABILITY Champion: Mountain View Services

Since 1988, Mountain View Services, based in Redlands, has supplied healthcare facilities with essentials, including groceries, medical supplies, janitorial supplies, nutritional supplements, incontinent supplies, durable medical equipment, and office supplies. We had an opportunity to speak with CEO Eric Goodman to celebrate Mountain View Services’ new status as an EmployABILITY Champion and to help us learn what that means to him.

How did you start your business?

I was actually an employee for this company and then bought it in 2020. I loved that the business’ whole goal is to take care of people with disabilities. It is a very needed service, and I’m proud to do this.

What is your mission as an organization?

Our mission is to provide facilities with products and services of the highest quality. We want to help as many people in our community as we can. As our tagline says, we are caring, dependable, and honest.

That mission is deeply personal for me as a person with disabilities. I was diagnosed with a disability when I was young. When I was a teenager, I had emergency surgery and was in rehab for months, so I’ve been on both sides of the caregiver/care receiver relationship. I understand how important it is that people with disabilities have what they need to live their best lives.

How do you plan to use EmployABILITY Business Grant funds to grow your business?  We are very excited to start using the funds! Mountain View Services is going to hire individuals with disabilities to work in the warehouse as packers and as data entry clerks. We are also going to start an eight-month training program for individuals with disabilities. The training program will include learning about and getting experience in all aspects of the medical supplies industry.

What does it mean to you to be an EmployABILITY Champion?

Being an EmployABILITY Champion makes me feel proud because we’ve built our whole business around caring for individuals with disabilities, and now we can be very intentional about including them in our organization as employees. It’s an extension of our mission.
