Purposeful Angels Home Care, LLC, based in Pleasanton, provides home healthcare services to seniors and others. Purposeful Angels was founded in 2020 by Adesuwa Olabanji. We met with Ms. Olabanji to celebrate her business's new status as an EmployABILITY Champion and learn what that means to her.
How did you start your business?
I started this company in March 2020: pandemic times. The clients, many of them veterans, needed caregiving even during that time. Many other caregivers quit because they were frightened for their own safety. During that time, my focus really changed to offering care in people’s homes instead of working in care homes. So much of what I learned during that hectic time is helping me with the business side of things now – things like remote hiring and online meetings.
What is your mission as an organization?
Our mission is to offer services so that no one ever feels alone or forgotten. As I said, many of our clients are veterans, and they often feel forgotten. They don’t always know what care services are available to them. I want to educate veterans about those resources and that the government will pay for a lot of them. There is help out there for anyone who needs home healthcare services!
How do you plan to use EmployABILITY Business Grant funds to grow your business?
We will be hiring individuals with disabilities, bringing in a disability inclusion consultant, getting assistive technology, and renovating our workplace to be ADA compliant.
What does it mean to you to be an EmployABILITY Champion?
This grant makes it possible for me to achieve what wasn’t in reach before. We are more inclusive now, too. Most of our clients have disabilities, so it’s a point of pride to show them that we’re employing others with disabilities, too. Regardless of your disability, you can have a place here as an employee.
